NO GLUTTEN DIET - AMAZING RESULTS

Hey All!

Of course all of us have heard of the No Glutten-No Casin diet.. but as I'm reading about it.. I'm SHOCKED that it's not more OUT THERE .. and that Doctors aren't up on this stuff..

According to the book, "Living Glutten Free for Dummies" by Danna Korn, the Human digestive systems can't handle wheat.. as much as we give it anyway. Cows- have 4 stomachs.. but us.. only 1 - and here is the list of things that happen to people who have a glutten sensitivity - or Celiac disease and are un… Continue

Public or Private School?

This is the start of the summer and my new job is to find a solution for our son's school issues.

This past year, he was in second grade. He did fine in his grades. He regularly did his homework. But he got sent out of the classroom nearly every day. The teachers knew he needed space to get himself together. He's making noises, talking out loud when it's supposed to be quiet and distracting the other kids.

Hearing that your child is causing so much disruption is stressful enough, but hearing t… Continue

NEW RESEARCH ON SPD, AUTISM and ADHD

HYPERBARIC OXYGEN CHAMBER TREATMENT FOR AUTISM? A study of 56 U.S. children with autism finds those treated with oxygen in a hyperbaric chamber had greater improvements in overall functioning, social interaction, eye contact, and sensory awareness than did children in a control group. Researchers say this is the first controlled study to test the effects of hyperbaric treatment on children with autism. Children were treated in the chamber for 1 hour at a time – twice a day for 4 weeks -- but onl… Continue

ADD? ADHD? SPD? OCD? PDD? APD?

Yah.. no joke.. I actually know what each of those mean!!! And those of us who have been dealing with some of these "labels" for a long time probably are hearing the ADHD one the most.

The thing that I have found SO fascinating, by joining other ADHD sites or visiting the AUTISM sites, is that there are TONS and TONS and TONS of people who just accept the ADHD label and medicate their childs in the traditional model.

I am DEFINITELY in favor of medicine if it will help. We've all been on meds… Continue

Starting the Support Group Website

Hi Everyone!
I'm really excited that we now have a place to meet. Please start your own groups here, add your own local chapters, or offer advice to other parents who are figuring out things as they go along.

I started the Orlando Chapter of the SPDFoundation.org support group last Sept. and we've had a wonderful time getting to know each other, and we've had great speakers who continue to educate us on traditional and non traditional therapies.

I speak with numerous families across the countr… Continue

Hi Mary!

Happy New Year to you as well. Thanks for the info on Nikken and the H20 Filtration and magnets. Small world as Marissa's therapist is recommending it as well and we'll be looking into it.

Have you had any success with neurofeedback? Marissa is starting that next week. We get the results of her testing on Monday and a prescribed treatment plan from there. I am very hopeful that this will give her an added boost on anxiety issues and attention as well.

Take care,

Craig

Hi Mary, O.K. you got my attention. We just upped Anthony's medication because his anger/anxiety went over the top. However, I was remiss in giving him his B12 shots. Ughhh, always so much to do. He has been GFCF for over a decade so that is not an issue. Inf fact, I joined Pampered Chef as a consultant two years ago just because I cook at home so much. But I don't know about Brain On and if you say it works, then it is worth trying. So, what is your website? I will contact you if it is not too expensive. We are remortgaging, actually loan modification until our income catches up with our expenses. My husband finally started a new job June 1 after two years without. I think it will be terrific. Looking forward to hearing from you and thanks for thining of me. Is brain on a liquid/capsule/powder?? We've done the green water or whatever it was called. Anthony didn't like it. Hopefully this tastes better.

Hi Mary
I absolutely love your website! If you don't mind I am going to add your page link to my website next week!
I spoke to Tony and sent him some info so we shall see what happens. Thanks so much! Remember that you are the best teacher for your child!

All my best,
Suzanne

Hi Mary, just wanted to know if you tried B12 shots? We have started them with our son (one so far while he is sleeping) and the next day he broke a morning ritual he has carried on all year. I found that pretty darn amazing. We are giving them every third day to start but may increase each day. You must do this under a doctor's guidance but google it and see the wonderful effects of B12. Did you also receive the e-mail with the link about the 8 yrs old boy who went to Costa Rica for stem cell treatment? Not sure of your views on that but the boy is doing great, according to his pediatrician. However, not approved in this country, insurance doesn't pay and very expensive and experimental. I shy away from these so called "quick fixes" for several reasons but just wanted to share the info with you. I don't really check this site unless someone e-mails me as I am pretty busy but hope you are doing well.

Hi Mary! I would love to contribute! I enjoy helping families understand the needs of their children, how to advocate for them, and coping with the challenges of raising a child with special needs. I would love to see that reference chart! Please let me know what you need! Thanks

Mary, I'd like to contribute something, but I'd need to know a word limit. I tend to write a lot, so having a word limit would help. I'd like to share a little something about how SPD contributed to my daughters selective mutism for my 5 year old daughter.

Do you have previous newsletters posted somewhere on the blog for me to read as well to learn more about this community?

Thanks.

Casey
